…surely the Design Indaba, its attendees and designers, faced with the reality of South Africa’s immensely unequal education system that daily furthers the intellectual dispossession of a majority, should be clamoring for, and coming up with, considered design interventions that can address this impediment to individual and collective creativity and the ability to compete in the global knowledge economy; this impediment that limits freedom and dignity.

..if the Design Indaba and its disciples truly want to be representative of, no, part of, “a country iconic for the triumph of the human spirit” or “Proof that even the most intractable problem can be neutralised by the will of the people” they best get their marching boots on.
