A new structure by Hubo Studio has been constructe A new structure by Hubo Studio has been constructed in Soweto. This new iconic frame and structure was created by @openairengineering for @reveeloutdoor. The structure consists out of a collage of 2400 aluminum pieces. It is simultaneously functioning as a performing and engaging structure in the community. A great idea for alternative placemaking in South Africa. In Hart van Zuid, at the Annie M.G. Schmidt square In Hart van Zuid, at the Annie M.G. Schmidt square in Rotterdam functionality, art, spatial development, and policy solutions have come together through social design to create a functional artwork inspired by the appeal of public swimming pools. The reason for its installation is the euro vision contest, but is intended as a long lasting act of place making for the surrounding neighbourhoods. “The Splash is designed to be "appropriated" by the neighborhood. Already during the installation, we saw that people chat with each other on the seating elements, that children skateboard over the surfaces, and that even the little ones climb and scramble over the diving board.
