CITY HALL: Reconnecting the Grand Parade to City Hall. An urban intervention.
A quick and rough idea of the impact of extending the Grand Parade over Darling Street to City Hall. Green spaces and the reclaimed historic grachts (canals) are used to soften the largely vacant site, and provide the area with a sense of place.
A dedicated informal market area with the required facilities could be located in permanent structures alongside the green edge or closer to Lower Plein Street.
The project would be a minor intervention providing a gateway to City Hall, ideally, our future Contemporary Ideas Centre, Hub of Music, Design, Architecture and the Arts.
