Cape Town Airport Rail link attracts global attention

THE Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa), which operates Metrorail and Shosholoza Meyl, has attracted “a lot of attention” from international investors in two of its multibillion-rand projects showcased in Cape Town earlier this week.Prasa had more than 200 proposed projects, 16 of which were at a sufficient development stage to present to the market, Dries van der Walt, Prasa’s executive manager for strategic asset development, said on Wednesday.

Prasa’s two “most bankable and developed” projects attracted interest from Spanish, French, Chinese and Japanese investors.

One of the projects, the Cape Town Rail Link project, has provisional approval from the Cabinet.
