Sustainability for the mining industry

“The Last Scramble for Africa”

Case studies of integrated buildings for Mines
Vernon Collis (Engineer–Architect & Director Collis & Associates) and Andrew Ibbotson (Civil Engineer & Director B&KM) share their attempts to develop “sustainable” infrastructures and/or buildings for the mining industry in West and Central Africa. They offer a critique of the mining development process itself and the opportunities to do it better in this fast pace industry. They also share an approach that aims to benefit the countries that own the minerals and not just the foreign mining houses alone.
