Future Cape Town Walking Tour: A Lens On Liveability

WHEN: 27 July 2013, 10AM – 12PM

START: Fan Walk Bridge (Buitengracht and Waterkant)

If you were the Mayor of Cape Town, how would you create a liveable city?

Led by our Managing Director, Rashiq Fataar, the tour will explore the concept of liveability and sustainability through the lens of the Central City, which has undergone a regeneration spanning more than a decade.

We will look at new and proposed developments, the impact of densification, including Cape Town’s new tallest building Portside, public transport infrastructure investments, including the MyCiTi bus system and the modernisation of Cape Town Station, public spaces and their role in city life, the challenges and opportunities of walking and cycling, perspectives on heritage and more.

The tour is aimed at stimulating the thinking of participants around the many issues and complexities in designing liveable cities, transforming each participant into the Mayor of Cape Town for the duration of the tour.

Join our look into the future of Cape Town!

Cost: R70 per person [R50 with student discount]

Hi I’m presuming(since the “sale” stops then) that this is on Saturday 27th?
(the date isn’t mentioned anywhere that I can see)

I find it a bit strange that one has to pay to contribute to the city’s plans?

Hi Judy – All funds will go toward the sustainability of Future Cape Town’s website and funding for projects such as the Your City Idea.
