Lagos Through My Lense: Devesh Uba

The streets of Lagos are a wonderful mosaic of human beings, colours and art. Being a street-photographer I am drawn to the interaction between human-beings and the art and colours of the city. There is art here on school walls, on streets, on three-wheeler taxis, shop sign boards and I believe just about everywhere. I am fascinated with the art and energy of Lagos. I capture this using photography:

Danfo – These yellow mini-buses (mostly VW) have become a symbol of Lagos. They are a popular medium of public transport in the city. Though the Government’s BRTs (Bus Rapid Transit) are available, they have miles to go before they can catch up with the popularity of Danfo!

Traffic on Third Mainland Bridge (the longest bridge in Africa) and people from a fishing community travelling in their little boats. Sometimes Lagos feels like a city combined of several cities!
