Future Cape Town will be collaborating with Pidgin Perfect on 21 May to host a workshop, film screening and Twitter conversation as part of the World Design Capital, Cape Town 2014 project: The Power of Film to Transform Lives and Communities.
Pidgin Perfect have teamed up with African film researcher Natalia Palombo, in an exciting collaboration with the British Council’s Connect ZA project, and Creative Scotland to deliver the project.
WHEN?
WEDNESDAY, 21 May 2014
SCHEDULE
- 17:00 – 19:00 WORKSHOP: FILM INFORMING DESIGN THINKING IN THE URBAN REALM
What if we designed the perfect apartment block for a city like Cape Town? What would it look like, but more importantly how have film and visuals projecting and featuring apartment block-living influenced our design thinking? And, where does such design thinking currently sit within an African context, where cities are rapidly growing as a result of urbanisation. Do we have a chance to do it differently?
Working in groups, participants from different disciplines will co-design visions and elements of a modern day African apartment block that fits in with the ideals, visions, concepts or dreams of a world class, liveable African City.
- 19:00 – 20:30 SCREENING of AFRICA SHAFTED
