Rivertown Precinct

Urban Lime was advised by Our Future Cities regarding the revitalisation of its properties and sites that comprise the Rivertown Precinct.

The development footprint consists of six city blocks and more than 30,000 square metres of space. The precinct is situated east of Durban's Central Business District, between the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and the iconic beachfront.

This work included developing the brief and running the national design competition that invited eight urban design and planning firms to develop a masterplan, and is presently supporting research and stakeholder engagement.

The competition was won by Ruben Reddy Architects (RRA), who proposed "a new wide pedestrian boulevard, directly linking the ICC to the beachfront – creating a strong visual and walkable connection."‍‍
